RARE JAPANESE SWORD 1874 CAVALRY OFFICERS

Very Rare Japanese 1874 pattern Cavalry officers sword.  Overall length in the mounts is 38.1/2".  The signed blade is 27.3/4" to the notch. The blade has no cracks, no blisters or openings.  There is some very minor scratching and light pitting in a couple of places but not deep and would easily polish out.  Very end of tip gone but very minor, good visible hamon along both sides and around the tip.  Polish around 80%. The d-guard mounts has the backstrap missing and the tip of the locking pin gone otherwise complete, good same` and complete wire wrap.  Pierced d-guard that sets it apart from the other types of d-guard mounts, the handle length is just over 8" long.  The scabbard is nickled metal with one hanger and the inside wood in good condition. tang is signed, " No Shu Seki Ju Mayegawa Kanetsugu ", with a showa stamp.  Overall a good rare sword and, even with the backstrap missing, a type of mount that is rarely seen.
